Westwood Community Choice Electricity Program
The town of Westwood is planning to launch the Westwood Community Choice Electricity Program for residents and businesses. The primary goals of the Program are to provide a cost-effective, stable and responsible alternative to utility electricity rates for participating consumers, understanding that future savings cannot be guaranteed because future Basic Service rates are unknown.
The Program will also offer participants more options with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), including a choice with RECs that match 100% of the customers monthly electricity consumption.
Development of the Program was authorized at the May 2019 Town Meeting. The first step in the implementation of the Program was to create an Aggregation Plan, which was approved by the Westwood Select Board and subsequently approved by the DPU on September 30, 2022 .

Disclaimer: A goal of the CCE program is to produce savings for customers, but savings cannot be guaranteed compared to the utility’s basic service rate which changes every six months for Residential and Small Commercial customers, and every three months for Industrial customers. The aggregation program seeks to provide price stability and average savings over the full term of the Program, but because future basic service rates are not known, there is no guarantee of savings.
